MEET RYAN
Ryan was born into a baseball family. As the son of a Hall of Famer, nephew of a pro player and grandson of a coach, he turned his innate love of the sport as a kid into his first career. He was drafted out of his Maryland high school, the first to be drafted from Gilman High School to the Washington Nationals and went on to have a minor league career with the Baltimore Orioles through the Triple A level. When it was time to pivot careers, Ryan knew he would remain in the sports industry. His loves of sports prevailed. After earning a business degree from Arizona State University, he launched his podcast, The Ryan Ripken Show in 2023 while simultaneously joining the broadcasts at area television and radio stations to comment on baseball and football during the professional seasons. His podcast has grown into a trusted source for live and breaking sports news coverage as well as in-depth exclusive interviews with professional athletes and industry insiders.
Ryan makes regular appearances as a sports critic and host on network radio and television. Each week during baseball seasons he co-hosts on Baltimore’s 105.7 The Fan, and he is a regular commentator on Baltimore’s FOX 45, Washington, D.C.’s ABC 7 and Baltimore Football Daily. He has also joined WBAL’s Fantasy Football Insider and The 33rd Team Football Insider as host.
Outside of broadcasting, Ryan gives his time as a former athlete to aspiring baseball players through mentorships, coaching and training. He also shares encouraging words through speeches and panels for aspiring broadcasters and writers studying media at universities and in other educational forums.
COMMUNITY
Ryan believes in serving the community where he was born and raised. He frequently speaks and serves as emcee with The Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation events, which is a nonprofit created in honor of his grandfather, that provides opportunities that build character, foster mentorship, and promote STEM education for under-resourced youth.
He also worked with the Baltimore-based League of Dreams where he led clinics with special needs and at-risk youth to increase physical fitness, confidence, and community engagement through experiencing competitive baseball and softball.
